Why Jesus Is The Only Way

Scripture text: (John 14:6, Acts 4:12)

Do we believe in God? We know very well that there is a God. This is because we are all created special – in the image of God. We are born with an innate knowledge of God. We are fools not only when we deny the knowledge of God, but also when we liken ourselves as animals. Unlike animals, we are able to reason, to feel guilty and we are judged according to the commandments of God. We have broken all His commandments and we are all bound for judgment. Deep down, human beings want to seek after God.

Jesus said that our hearts need not be troubled (v 1) because He is going to show us the way to God. Since we believe in God, we ought also to believe in Jesus Christ. There are 2 reasons why Jesus is the only way to heaven.

1) Only Jesus came down from heaven.

 If we want to know the way to heaven, we must find out from someone who comes from there. Jesus knows the way because He is the Son of God who became Son of Man. He was Emmanuel which being interpreted is God with us. As He is the begotten of God, He is the same in essence as God the Father. He is God 100%, yet He is also man 100%. Therefore He can be man’s perfect Saviour.

2) Only Jesus rose from the dead and ascended to heaven.

Which other religion can give us a definite assurance that we can go to heaven when we die? We have all condemned ourselves. However, God is good. He lived a perfect life and He died for our sins as our substitute. What Jesus said is true: “I am the resurrection and the life.” His resurrection is a historical fact. Christ made a total of 11 appearances, one of which was to  500 people. The bones of Jesus can never be found.

To enter heaven, we must be as holy as God. Jesus did that for us. No one could find fault with Him. Not even Pilate. We can know God and we can know the meaning of life, only if we confess Jesus as our Saviour. Life can be abundant and free as we are slowly grow in Christ.
