Responsibilities Towards Our Children

Every child is born a sinner. You do not have to know about any doctrine of our sin nature in order to sin. The natural man will sin. "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin" (James 4:17). A little child can be, and should be, taught to obey at a very young age. It is estimated that 90% of all Christians in the world knew God as a child or teenager.
Christian parents have the wonderful privilege, and responsibility, to claim the LORD's Word, His Promises, for the conversion of your children:

• "And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou SITTEST in thine house, and when thou WALKEST by the way, and when thou LIEST down, and when thou RISEST up" (Deuteronomy 6:7).
• "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the LORD” (Ephesians 6:4).
• "Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the LORD Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, AND THY HOUSE" (Acts 16:30-31).
• "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6).

Are we bringing our children to Jesus? Parents today take great pains sending their children to school every morning, bringing them to music practice once or twice a week. The list goes on: to the swimming pool, to the shops, maybe in the future to university or college. Perhaps some parents even hope to bring their children into their business or trade someday! But Christian parents need to remember that according to the Lord Jesus Christ, the most important thing bring our children to Jesus! This is the best gift we can give to our children.
