There is an assault on the basic building block of society. Divorce is on the increase in our country, even among Christian families. One of the areas under attack by the evil one is the Christian Home. The temptations of the world and our depraved nature made us morally vulnerable to sin in a grievous way. Children and youths are also affected by worldliness (television, internet, fads and fashion, chatrooms, youtube) and are less teachable and less compliant to parental instruction coupled with stress and strain of the parents by both work and children in their studies; this has adversely affected the covenant home. Christian parents are finding it more difficult to nurture and admonish their children in the fear of the Lord and marital fidelity is not valued by some today. The very basic block of society has come under siege. Prov 127:1 says, “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain” and Prov 24:3, 4 says, “Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” We need the fear of God and the knowledge of the Word to preserve the family today from the corrupting influence of this world.
