Rahab and her loved ones did not perish together with the unbelievers but were saved by their faith in God and His Word, “By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace” (Heb 11:31), and “And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father’s household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho” (Joshua 6:25). Likewise, we shall be blessed when we put our trust in God and His Word, “Blessed are all they that put their trust in him” (Ps 2:12). We shall not perish when we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). However, many believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and they are still not sure that they shall be saved forever. Why? Because their salvation is, somehow more or less, still based on themselves or something else, not totally on the Lord Jesus Christ alone! Dear friends, when we acknowledge our total depravity, helplessness and hopelessness and then turn to the Lord Jesus Christ and trust in Him alone for forgiveness and salvation, we can be sure that once we are saved by Him, we shall be saved forever and shall never perish as salvation is of the Lord and not ours from the beginning unto the end.
Praise the Lord! Our Lord Jesus Christ confirms, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one” (John 10:27-30). Dear friends, if you and I are truly Jesus’ sheep, we are so safe and secure in both our Lord Jesus’ and in our heavenly Father’s loving and almighty hands. No one, even Satan, can snatch us from our Lord’s hand as long as we humbly and wisely keep ourselves in Him. Even when we are backsliding due to our weaknesses and foolishness and the temptations of the world, sooner or later, our loving Father and Saviour, will never leave us nor forsake us but will chastise us and bring us back to Himself. Praise the Lord! May God help you and me wisely hide ourselves in Him and not foolishly run away from Him.
