Scripture text: (John 14:1-4)
Introduction
We live in very troubled times as the world changes so quickly. Every economy is tied closely together and one affects the other because of organizations like the WTO, UN and WCC. This is a hopeless world and one day everything will be under the control of the Anti-Christ as predicted in the bible. We cannot prevent it but we are to be prepared and not get caught up in it.
How do we have real peace?
1. Believe in God (Vs 1) He is the God of the universe, the Creator, omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. Nothing should disturb us if we truly believe in this great God. This God has provided us the only way back to Him through the Lord Jesus Christ (‘believe also in me’), His only begotten Son who can cleanse our sins and remove the barrier between God and man.
2. Be with Christ (Vs 2-3) True peace comes by the supernatural transformation of our lives in wanting to please Christ in everything we do, say or think, because we want to be acceptable to Him. We shall be with Christ through eternity and eternity starts now. Heaven is everything because Christ is there.
3. Know Christ (Vs 4) True peace comes from the confidence in the truths we know about God and Christ. To have real peace, we must know the word of God more and more. Spending time daily in prayer and reading of His word gives us the peace which is not easily affected by our feelings or circumstances around us. There is no end to this pursuit of increasing our knowledge about Christ through His word.
Conclusion
If we have this real peace in Christ, no amount of troubled times can shake our confidence and trust in God. May the way we live, as we have real peace in Christ, make an impact on people around us for His truth and glory.
